Citadel on the Wilderlands February Update

It's been a month or so since I updated the world on my Citadel on the Wilderlands doings.

In mid-January, during the OGL debacle, I decided to speed up my design of Citadel on the Wilderlands. My thinking was that if the 1.0A OGL was going to be revoked at some point that year I would forever regret not releasing Citadel on the Wilderlands. So, I doubled my pace and have been writing 1,000 design words a day since then. I split my words—500 for the civilised Solonor Isle and 500 for the Monastery of Ineffable Evil.

First Look: Monastery of Ineffable Evil
Folklore, of a certain obscure evasiveness, telling of hideous acts of unspeakable blasphemies, haunts the place.

Splitting the words between two such different places definitely works as the two subjects demand a different style of writing. It works well. It is time-consuming, though, and I am considering scaling back down to 500 words at the end of the month, so I have more time for the general day-to-day doings of Raging Swan Press. Some days have been a bit “squished” this month.

In any event, at the time of writing, my word counts stand at:

  • Solonor Isle: 48,970
  • Monastery of Ineffable Evil: 12,641

Behold Solonor Isle

In other super news, Tommi Salama has produced the first map for Solonor Isle. It's awesome. It's not 100% final—it needs a couple of minor changes, but it gives you an excellent first look at the characters' "home base".

I'm delighted how the map turned out. What do you think?

Citadel on the Wilderlands is my love letter to B2 Keep on the Borderlands and B5 Horror on the Hill. I'm writing 500 words every weekday for a year.
